Like Apple likes to say "there is an app for that!". There is a wide variation of apps available, and more often than not there is something for everyone no matter your tastes or interests. There are shopping apps, games, travel apps, parking apps, you name it. We all have our favorite ones, as well as having ones we have dreamed of in our head that we wish existed. In this blog I am going to spotlight one of my favorite apps...and bonus it's a free app that gives your rewards!! Shopkick!

I have been using Shopkick for about close to 2 years maybe. I was turned onto it by a helpful sales clerk at Sports Authority. Shopkick is a rewards app. It uses geo-location technology to find participating merchants in your area that offer "kicks". Kicks are varying amounts of points you are awarded simply for walking into a business (with the app open), typically a store. You can also get kicks by scanning various items the app tells you to scan. Racking up kicks is actually pretty easy. Kicks are actually pretty easy to find. Most retailers participate. Target, Best Buy, Sports Authority and more have kicks almost daily.

Ok, so now you are probably wondering what does one do with kicks?? Kicks can be redeemed for "rewards". Shopkick rewards are codes for e-cards gift cards. Shopkick has a list of participating vendors that offer gift card rewards, from places like Nike, Coach, Starbucks, Target and more. Minimum kicks needed for a reward is 1250. For 1250 kicks you can redeem for a $5 gift card, or you can keep racking them up for a larger reward. It's up to you how you use them. I tend to redeem them for $5 Starbucks cards to feed my Starbucks addiction. But the beauty of the reward is you get to pick what you want.

With 3 kids, I am always running into this store or that. I get a lot of kicks at Target! Some stores have a maximum you can get in 30 days, but even then often times there are special bonus kick days where you might get 100+ kicks on a special day for just walking in. With the holidays just around the corner its a perfect time to download the app (it's available for Apple & Andriod) and try it out. Many retailers will be offering high kicks and you can redeem them for gift cards for your holiday shopping.
