Facebook messenger, Mircosoft, virtual reality, The Jetsons, Google Cardboard and We're Hiring in this weeks tech news.
It's a short week, so I feel like I am scrabbling for my usual tech news overflow. I feel like I have even less because I was off last Friday too (hence no IT Thing last week in case you were wondering). So, let's take a look and see what I came up with, shall we?
1. Facebook messenger to add an end to end encryption. Following in the footsteps of Google with Allo, Facebook is rumored to be adding end to end encryption this summer.
3. Is there finally a Jetson's like Rosie? Meet Asus Zenbo, a $599 home robot. Reviews say it "look and appears to act a lot like home robots we've seen in sci-fi movies (and the Jetsons). Appears to be the key word in this review. What do you think would you like a Zenbo?
4. Google Cardboard. Yes, two mentions of virtual reality in one blog. We covered Google Cardboard here on the blog back in March. So, you may wonder why I am bringing it up again? Well, SYDCON has acquired one for our office. To say it was a big hit is a understatement. We even took it home for the kids to try. In fact, we may just have to order all our developers one for when they need break from coding reality! I tried it out and it was pretty cool. I laughed so hard when I "visited" a history museum and was face to face with a large dinosaur fossil! HA! Dave took our son on a tour of the playground where he played fast pitch as a kid, and Garrett, in our office was immersed in a game (see pic). For $15 these are worth it! 5. We're hiring.
I've mentioned this for the past two weeks, and we look to be winding down in the final stretch of interviews for our in-house PHP developer. If your interested or know someone who is, please reach out quickly! We offer Virtual Reality fun, free breakfast on Monday's and free lunch on Friday's! Come join us! Well, that should give you some tech news to hold you over this week. Did you see something cool that I may have missed? Share it with me.
